Bestselling children’s author, Julia Dweck, shares the magic of the holiday season in a delightful story of one boy’s wish for a dog of his very own. After a wintry mix of snow and love, two icy mounds of snow come to life with a bark, a wiggle and a wag. The wonder of childhood is born in this frisky snowpup named Frostbite. Children will be enchanted by the artistry of Robb Mommaerts, whose illustrations perfectly capture the magic of this imaginative picture book. Told in rhyme by a little boy whose dream comes true, this tale will warm the heart of young readers and any parent who remembers wishing for a dog of their very own. So that’s the truth amidst the snow— As day turned into night, I found a dog to call my own. I’m glad I caught Frostbite.

In The Softball Coaching Bible, Volume II, the NFCA has assembled a stellar lineup of coaches who share the insights that have helped them establish successful programs. This book presents the most comprehensive information on fielding, hitting, training, forming a coaching staff, and helping develop well-rounded student-athletes.

Biography

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) is the sport’s leading professional growth organization for coaches at all competitive levels of play. The NFCA works to formulate guiding principles, standards, and policies for conducting competitive fastpitch softball programs for girls and women. It encourages players to participate in softball with the highest tradition of competition and to become leaders in their fastpitch programs. The NFCA recognizes outstanding members through its Victory Club and Coach of the Year awards programs, in addition to All-Region, All-American, and Scholar-Athlete awards programs for members’ college and high school players. The NFCA also works with USA Today to produce polls for NCAA Division I, II, and III and high school softball teams, and it hosts collegiate tournaments and recruiting camps across the nation.
MY THOUGHTS:
THE SOFTBALL COACHING BIBLE: Volume II by National Fastpitch Coaches Association is an educational non-fiction/Softball/Coaching/Softball for Children. I must admit I was a little overwhelmed at first with all the information contained within these 357+ pages of knowledge, but the NFCA has put together a very comprehensive book with various areas of coaching including hitting, training and of coarse putting together a coaching staff.  Volume II picks up where Volume I left off, apparently. I have not read Volume  I, but found this was a very educational and informative novel. This group of talented coaches lend their coaching experience, for instruction, guidance and recommendations  to every coach for every aspect of coaching a softball team. A great resource! Very educational and informative. Received for an honest review from the publisher and Library Thing.

November 27, 2013 “This afternoon it snowed. It was probably one of the last snows of the winter, so it was lovely sticky snow…perfect for making a snowman.” So begins the funny and poignant tale of a teenage girl and a dangerously tall snowman.

From the kitchen window, a mother watches her teenage daughter build one last snowman in the fresh spring snow. The girl works diligently, and with some help from her little brother, she constructs a dashing giant. But wet snow and gravity take their toll, leaving a young girl who has perhaps loved and lost for the very first time.

The LAST Snowman is a book with timeless appeal for children and adults alike. Award-winning story artist JC Little has playfully captured a tender “moment” in family life, marking the ephemeral grace between childhood and adolescence.

MY THOUGHTS:

THE LAST SNOWMAN by J C Little is an timeless Children’s Book/Growing up/ Family Life. A teenager, who builds a snowman learns that one day a guy will come along and fall for her too. This is the story of love, lost and growing up. With vivid illustrations which are beautiful and a tale for both young and old alike, “The Last Snowman” is a fantastic read! It will appeal to both young and older teenagers as they navigate growing up and moving forward with their lives. A wonderful, tender story! Received for an honest review from the author.

Age range: 0-7.  A charming and educational tale of a young boy, Kory, who battles Cystic Fibrosis. This lively story is based on the author’s own struggles to help her boys better understand their disease, and cope with the their battle to keep the sticky icky boogers away. What an amazing tale, which beautifully explains for young children and parents alike how to better understand the terms, their struggles, and their never ending battle with Cystic Fibrosis.
